About this painting

Stacked layers of grey sky press down on a band of teal-blue water, and just below the horizon a few white flecks catch the light like breaking surf.

The sky is built in four bands: near-white at the top, a smoky cloud layer, a pale strip scattered with thin dark marks, and a heavy slate band resting on the horizon. Below it the teal is scraped and layered, darkening to navy blots on the lower left. The paint is troweled and scuffed throughout, with dragged edges and low ridges that give the surface a weathered, sea-worn look.

WA#1247 is an original wabi-sabi seascape painting showing muted grey sky over teal water bands, weathered plaster surface, hand-painted in acrylic on canvas with a heavily textured impasto surface. It is painted to order in any size; the 11 standard sizes run from 18×36 in (46×91 cm) to 50×100 in (127×254 cm). Painting takes about 10 days and delivery 5–7 days by DHL, FedEx or UPS; the minimum order is one piece.

Where it works

Twice as tall as it is wide, it suits a double-height wall above a long low bench, the far end of a spa corridor seen head-on, or the slim wall between a vanity and a shower screen. Hang it so the slate horizon band lands near standing eye level; the water then fills the lower view. Pale concrete, white oak, honed limestone and chrome all suit its cool palette, and daylight from the side picks out the scraped ridges in the teal.

Specified for spa & wellness, corridor & circulation, bathroom and guest room & suite; it reads as calming and peaceful.

Pairs well with

These share its palette, format and surface, so the three hang as a set: a run along a hotel corridor, a pair either side of a bed with this one between, or one per suite on the same floor.

Sizes & scale

Width × height. These are the sizes ordered most often; any other size is painted to order, with the composition redrawn to your proportions. A common rule: art about two-thirds the width of the sofa, bed or console beneath it.

What affects the price

Trade prices for WA#1247 are quoted per order rather than listed, and come back within one business day. Four things set the figure:

Size
Price follows canvas area. The standard sizes run from 18×36 in to 50×100 in; any other size is quoted the same way.
Finish
Rolled canvas is the lowest-cost way to buy and ship. Stretched, ready to hang, costs more, and a frame costs the most.
Surface
Thick impasto uses more paint and takes longer to dry than flat brushwork, which the price reflects.
Quantity
Volume pricing starts at 10 pieces: the same design for every room on a floor, each one painted individually, or a mix of works.

Shipping is not included in the price; its cost is confirmed with you before the piece ships. Ask for a price on WA#1247 on WhatsApp →

Questions buyers ask

What are the fine dark marks above the teal horizon?

A handful of short strokes, no wider than a pencil line, scattered across the pale band of sky. From a distance they read like masts, reeds or birds on a far shore; close up they are simply marks in the paint, a small irregularity that keeps the bands from looking ruled.

Is the grey and teal horizon painting a seascape or an abstract?

Both. The stacked grey bands behave like cloud and the teal like open water, with white flecks for surf, but nothing is drawn literally. Hung in a corridor it reads as a view out to sea; in a bathroom it can pass as pure colour and texture.

Is WA#1247 a print or an original painting?

An original. WA#1247 is hand-painted in acrylic on canvas when you order it — nothing in the iHomeArt catalogue is printed or held in stock. The photographs show an earlier canvas of the same design, so the brushwork on yours will differ slightly.

Will several copies of WA#1247 match across rooms?

They read as a set: every copy is painted from the same composition and palette. Each one is still painted by hand, so the brushwork differs slightly from piece to piece. Progress photos at each stage let you compare them before the next stage starts, and volume pricing begins at 10 pieces.

Will the colours match what I see on screen?

Screens shift colour, so the photographs here are a guide rather than a swatch. You see progress photos or video at each stage and approve a photograph of the finished canvas before it leaves. Moving the palette towards your scheme is normal: send a photo of a paint chip, a fabric swatch or the room on WhatsApp.
