Is this page for you?
This page is written for the principal or project designer at a residential studio who is furnishing one house or apartment and needs one piece per wall: a living-room canvas that picks up the bouclé and the limewash, a pair over the dining sideboard, something calm above the main bed. You buy one to six pieces per project, you buy at trade, you need the homeowner to see and approve the work before it ships, and you need it on the wall on the install date, not a fortnight after. The questions you ask a supplier are whether the colours can be changed to a sample, whether an odd size is possible, whether the frame can match the joinery or be left to your own framer, and whether trade terms apply when the order is one piece.
Everything below answers those questions with what we actually do: Recolour (same composition, your palette), Resize (any dimensions, re-proportioned by the painter), stage-by-stage photo approval, three finishes, and a minimum order of one piece.
Not you? If you are scheduling 15–40 pieces across a whole villa, read villas & whole-house projects. If one wall is 3 m wide or double-height and the size is the whole brief, oversized & custom-size art goes deeper on formats. If you advise on art rather than specify the scheme, see art consultants. If the pieces are inventory that moves between listings, see home stagers.
The right image exists in the wrong colour or proportion. What can you do?
This is the most common reason a designer emails us: a catalogue piece has the composition the scheme needs, but its greens are too cool for the fabric, or it is vertical and the sofa wall wants horizontal. Because nothing is held in stock, every piece is painted for its order, and changing it is the normal case.
- Recolour. Same composition, your palette. Send the fabric cutting, the paint code, the stone or timber reference, or a photograph of the scheme board, and the painter matches to those references rather than to a screen. A neutral abstract can be shifted to a client's terracotta and sage; a floral can be re-painted with the wallpaper's ground colour.
- Resize. Any catalogue piece in any dimensions. The listed sizes (14 for vertical and horizontal works, from 61 × 51 cm up to 203 × 153 cm; 11 for panoramic works up to 127 × 254 cm) are what has been produced before, not a menu. A 240 × 90 cm strip over a long console or a 2 m canvas for a double-height stair wall is painted to that size; the painter re-composes the proportions rather than stretching the image.
- Both at once. Recolour and Resize are quoted on one enquiry and painted as one piece.
Where to start: the catalogue is organised by 16 colour families, so you can begin from the family nearest the scheme and send us the exact reference to match. For wide walls, Living Room holds most of the catalogue's wide formats: 103 horizontal and 97 panoramic works. Oversized requests from residential studios are handled on this page; you do not need a separate enquiry route.
Install day is fixed. How far ahead should I order?
A standard piece takes about one week to paint and 3–7 days in transit by DHL, FedEx or USPS: 10–13 days door to door, anywhere in the world, shipping free and insured. That is the figure for a catalogue piece at a listed size, with or without a palette change. Commissions from your own reference, very large formats and multi-piece orders are quoted individually and the delivery date is confirmed in writing with the quote, so you are never working from an estimate. For comparison, a single-artist studio commission commonly quotes around eight weeks from start to delivery 4.
Practical sequencing for a residential job:
- Send the enquiry when the fabric and paint are approved, usually while joinery is still on site. The quote comes back within 1 business day with the lead time.
- Confirm the order at least three weeks before install day for standard pieces; that leaves float for a second look at a progress photo and for your framer if the piece ships rolled.
- For a 2 m+ canvas or an order of six or more pieces, allow the lead time stated on the quote rather than the 10–13 day figure.
- Tell us the delivery address at order stage; we ship to a site, a framer or a receiving warehouse rather than the buyer on request.
Multiple pieces for one house are usually delivered together, so the art arrives as one consignment your installer can hang in a single visit.
Will my client be able to see and approve it before it ships?
Yes, and not only at the end. As the piece is painted we send progress photos or video at each stage, and the painter only continues once you have approved that stage. You can forward the photos to the homeowner as they arrive, or collect them into your own update. Colour and composition are corrected while the work is on the easel, which is where a correction costs nothing, rather than after a finished canvas has crossed the world.
What a stage looks like in practice: the blocked-in composition, the main colour passes checked against the references you sent, and the finished surface before it is signed. If the terracotta reads too orange in the second photo, say so and it is adjusted before the next pass. Once approved, the artist signs the piece and a certificate of authenticity travels with it, which is what the client keeps.
If you want to check quality before the client's budget is committed, order a sample: the minimum order is one piece, so a single 61 × 51 cm canvas in the scheme's palette is a normal order and can be judged against the actual fabric on the actual site.
Every delivery is fully insured. If a piece arrives damaged on install day, photograph it and the packaging and send us the photos; we handle the carrier claim and replace the piece at no cost. The steps are on logistics.
Framing has to match the joinery, or your own framer does it. Which finish do you specify?
Three finishes, chosen per piece within one order, so a house can have the living-room canvas rolled for your framer and the bedroom pieces arriving ready to hang.
| Finish | What arrives | When residential designers choose it |
|---|---|---|
| Rolled canvas | Unstretched canvas in a strong paper tube. | When the studio's own framer builds the frame to match the joinery or a specific moulding, and for large formats, where local stretching is usually the cheaper route on long-haul shipping. |
| Frameless stretched | Stretched on bars, ready to hang. | Contemporary rooms where the canvas edge is the finish; bedrooms and bathrooms where glass is not wanted. |
| Framed | Framed in gold, silver, black, white or wood, boxed with hanging hooks. | Dining rooms, halls and any room where the frame must read with the timber or the metalwork on day one. |
If your framer is doing the work, tell us the finished size you want the painted image to be and whether you need an unpainted margin for wrapping; the painter allows for it. If we frame, name the colour from the five above and send a photograph of the joinery or metal finish it needs to sit beside so we can check the match in the progress photos. Sizes are quoted as the canvas size; a framed piece is slightly larger on the wall, so allow for the moulding when the wall drawing is tight.
Do trade terms apply if I only need one or two pieces?
Yes. The minimum order is one piece, there is no public price list, and every enquiry from a design studio is quoted within 1 business day at the trade figure for that piece, size, palette change and finish. Volume pricing is tiered from 10 pieces per order, which matters on a whole-house schedule but is not a condition of buying at trade. We do not publish a trade discount percentage: the quote is the delivered figure, with painting, signature, certificate and insured worldwide shipping included and nothing added for delivery.
Most retail-facing art suppliers run a trade programme you apply to first, with business registration, a resale certificate or tax number and a portfolio, and verification that takes anywhere from 24 hours to two weeks 1; the programme then offers a discount on the retail price 2. There is no application here because there is no retail price to discount from: iHomeArt supplies trade only, and the first enquiry is quoted the same way as the fiftieth.
Terms as they apply to a studio:
- Minimum order: one piece; a sample is an order of one.
- Quote: within 1 business day, with the lead time stated.
- Payment: against a proforma invoice; terms available on repeat accounts.
- Repeat orders: the same code, palette and size can be painted again for a later project as a fresh original.
- Delivery: free, insured, DHL/FedEx/USPS, to the client's home, your framer or a receiver.
Full terms are on the trade page; they are the same terms, worded once.
How an order runs for a design studio, and what to send
A commission brief works better as references than as instructions: room photographs, material samples and furniture finishes tell a painter more than a description of every brushstroke 3. The sequence:
- Brief. Send the catalogue code or codes, the wall size (width and height, and ceiling height if the piece is large), the finish per piece, the install date, the delivery address, and your colour references: fabric cuttings photographed in daylight, paint codes, stone or timber samples, or a photo of the scheme board. A wall photograph with the furniture in place helps the painter judge scale.
- Quote within 1 business day. One figure per piece, delivered, with the lead time. Recolour and Resize are priced in the same quote.
- Sample if you want one. Minimum order one piece.
- Painting, about 1 week. Progress photos or video at each stage, approved by you (and your client) before the painter continues.
- Sign and certify. Signed by the artist; certificate of authenticity travels with the piece.
- Transit, 3–7 days. DHL, FedEx or USPS, tracking number on dispatch, fully insured; about 10–13 days door to door for a standard piece.
The enquiry form has a reference-code field and a brief field; use request a quote and the role is pre-selected. A PDF of the wall drawing attached to the reply email is welcome.
Where to start in the catalogue for a residential scheme
The catalogue is 1,455 works across 8 styles, 10 themes, 16 colour families, 9 moods and 4 orientations, and every work carries residential room tags. The cuts below are the slices residential studios use most; the counts are live from the catalogue, and every piece in them can be recoloured and resized. Living Room is the deepest pool (855 works) and holds most wide formats: 103 horizontal and 97 panoramic. Bedroom is led by Textured & Plaster (109) and by the Peaceful mood (281). Dining Room is led by Floral & Botanical (185) and holds the catalogue's Still Life works (58). Entryway & Hallway is almost entirely vertical (424 of 432). Bathroom is the only room where Seascape leads (55). Home Office is Geometric-led (107).
There is no "coastal" tag. For a coastal or beach-house brief, start from Seascape works with a Calming mood, or from Textured & Plaster in white, sand and blue, and send the linen and timber references for the palette. For a scheme in an unusual colour, pick the composition from any cut and send the references; the palette is changed to order. When the same studio is scheduling 15–40 pieces for one house, the brief and the order run differently and have their own page: villas & whole-house projects.

What we do not claim
A designer who forwards this page to a client needs to know where the edges are.
- No stock. Nothing ships tomorrow; every piece is painted for its order, which is why colour and size can still be changed. The fastest a standard piece arrives is about 10–13 days.
- No prints. We do not supply giclée or reproductions, so there is no cheaper printed version of a catalogue piece.
- No public prices and no published trade discount. Every piece is quoted within 1 business day; the quote is the delivered figure.
- Hand-painted means not identical. The catalogue image is a photograph of a work painted before. The piece painted for you will differ in the way hand-painting differs, and a Recolour is a match to your references, checked in progress photos, not a digital colour pick.
- No certifications claimed. We make no fire-rating, flame-retardancy or similar claims for canvas; if a specification requires treatment or glazing, arrange it locally and ask before writing it into a schedule.
- Master works are not changed. Works by our senior partnered artists are kept as painted; they carry provenance, exhibition history and a photograph with the artist instead of a Recolour or Resize option. See custom & commission.
Everything else on this page is a mechanism we run on every order: photo approval, signed pieces with certificates, insured shipping, one-piece minimum.
A townhouse, three pieces — illustrative schedule
An illustrative schedule built from catalogue references, not a client project. Every piece would be painted to the wall's own dimensions.
| Space | Work | Size | References |
|---|---|---|---|
| Living room, over the sofa | Textured & Plaster seascape abstract, recoloured to the bouclé sample and the limewash paint code; ships rolled for the studio's own framer | 183 × 137 cm (72 × 54 in) | TA#1042 |
| Dining room, pair over the sideboard | Two vertical florals with warm grounds, palette as catalogued; framed white to match the painted joinery | 61 × 51 cm (24 × 20 in) each | IA#098, CA#077 |
| Total | 3 pieces, one order, one consignment, below the 10-piece volume tier; client approves the progress photos of the large piece before it is signed | — | Quoted within 1 business day |
Questions residential interior designers: colour-matched and resized pieces ask us
- Can you change the colours of a catalogue piece to match my client's fabric?
- Yes. That is the Recolour route: the same composition painted in your palette, matched to fabric cuttings, paint codes, stone or timber references rather than to a screen. You check the match in progress photos at each stage and the painter only continues once you approve.
- Can you paint a piece to a non-standard size for a specific wall?
- Yes. Any catalogue piece can be painted at any size, including 2 m+ and panoramic formats for double-height and long walls. The listed sizes are precedents, not a menu, and the painter re-proportions the composition for the new format rather than stretching the image.
- Will my client be able to approve the painting before it ships?
- Yes. We send progress photos or video at each stage of painting and continue only once the stage is approved, so you can forward them to the homeowner. Corrections are made while the piece is on the easel, before it is signed and shipped.
- Can you ship rolled so my framer can frame it locally?
- Yes. Rolled canvas ships unstretched in a strong paper tube for your framer to stretch and frame to match the joinery; tell us the finished image size and any wrap margin. Alternatively we frame in gold, silver, black, white or wood, boxed with hooks.
- Do trade terms apply if I only need one piece?
- Yes. The minimum order is one piece and every design-studio enquiry is quoted at trade within 1 business day; there is no public price list and no application to complete. Volume pricing is tiered from 10 pieces, but is not a condition of trade supply.
- How far ahead of install day should I order?
- A standard piece takes about a week to paint plus 3–7 days in transit, so 10–13 days door to door; confirm the order at least three weeks before install to leave float for approvals and framing. Large formats and multi-piece orders are quoted with a written delivery date.
- How do I send colour references for a scheme?
- Photograph fabric cuttings and samples in daylight next to a white sheet, include paint brand and code, add a photo of the scheme board and of the wall with furniture in place, and attach them to the enquiry. Physical references are matched on the easel and checked in the progress photos.
- Do you ship to Australia, and is delivery included?
- Yes. Every order ships free and fully insured worldwide by DHL, FedEx or USPS, including Australia and New Zealand, with a tracking number on dispatch. Transit is 3–7 days and we can deliver to the client's home, your framer or a receiving warehouse on request.
