Are made-to-order paintings from China originals or reproductions?
Every work iHomeArt supplies is an original. It is hand-painted on canvas for the order that asks for it, signed on the canvas by the painter, and shipped with a certificate of authenticity written in the painter's hand. Nothing is printed, nothing is giclée and nothing is held in stock: the catalogue of 1,455 works is a record of what has been painted before, and an order against a catalogue reference is a new painting, not a copy pulled from a shelf.
iHomeArt is the trade channel of Siji Art Hub in Foshan, Guangdong. The studio painters work inside the hub's exhibition programme, which has run more than fifty exhibitions with professors of the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts among the exhibitors; the hub's own collection exceeds 11,000 works. The artists page says who paints the work.
Two kinds of work carry two different claims, and this page keeps them apart. Catalogue works are painted to order by studio painters and can be re-painted in any size or palette. Master works by the hub's senior partnered artists are kept exactly as painted and sold with provenance, exhibition history, a photograph of the artist with the work and invitations to their shows. The certificate on a catalogue work confirms that the piece is an original by the painter who signed it; it does not claim the painter is well known, and we ask you not to present it that way.
The question is asked because much of the wholesale trade in Chinese oil paintings is marketed on price alone 3, and a buyer reading such a listing cannot tell a hand-painted piece from a print with brushstroke varnish. Ask any supplier who signs it, what document ships with it, and whether you may watch it being painted.
Who this page is for
You are probably an independent gallery, a framing shop or an art-and-frame store adding hand-painted originals to the wall at a price your walk-in customers and local designers will pay. You buy five to twenty pieces at a time, frame in-house, and sell each piece with its paperwork.
You buy by ordering one sample first, then small repeated orders as pieces sell. You want a quote per piece and per tier, not a public price list, and you want rolled canvas because the moulding, the glass and the labour are your margin.
You usually ask who painted it, whether it is a one-off, and whether you can get another when it sells. Those are the questions your customers ask you, so we answer them first on this page.
Independent retailers now buy original art through wholesale marketplaces built for small shops 1, and artists' own accounts of selling through interior stores describe stock tracked in someone else's premises and uneven sell-through 2. A made-to-order supplier changes the shape of the problem: there is no stock to track, and the wall is refilled by ordering rather than by persuading an artist to deliver.
Not you? If you sell art off a furniture showroom wall and want compositions recoloured to a collection, read furniture showrooms & retail flagships. If you sell online with no stock, read online sellers & dropship. If you place work for clients rather than sell off a wall, read art consultants. If you deal in attributed pieces, read master works & collectors.
Customers ask whether it is a real original. What do we give you to answer them?
What goes wrong elsewhere. A print supplier ships a canvas that looks hand-painted under glass and says nothing about origin; a consignment artist brings originals but no paperwork; and a gallery is left describing the piece from memory when a customer asks who made it and whether there is another one.
What we do. Every piece leaves the studio with three things you can put in front of a customer:
- The signature on the canvas, by the painter who made it.
- The certificate of authenticity, written in the painter's hand, stating that the work is an original. It travels with the canvas in the tube or the box.
- The progress photographs or video from the week it was painted. We send them stage by stage and continue only once you approve; you keep them, and they make a better answer to "is it real?" than any label.
What the certificate does not do is turn a studio painter into a name. For a catalogue work, say what is true: a hand-painted original, made to order at Siji Art Hub in Foshan, signed and certified by its painter. For a customer who wants an attributed piece with a record behind it, the answer is a master work, described further down this page.
Can you ship rolled so we frame in-house?
What goes wrong elsewhere. Suppliers who only ship stretched or framed take the framing margin with them, and the box is larger, heavier and more likely to arrive with a dented corner. A framing shop makes its money on the moulding and the labour, so a canvas that arrives already on a frame is a cost, not a product.
What we do. Rolled is a standard finish, not a concession. An unstretched canvas ships in a strong paper tube, insured, with a tracking number sent the day it leaves. You stretch and frame it on your own bars and moulding and set your own retail price. Where you would rather not, we also supply frameless stretched canvas or framed pieces in gold, silver, black, white or wood; framed work ships boxed with hanging hooks.
Sizes are yours to set. The catalogue lists the sizes each work has been painted at before, from 61 × 51 cm (24 × 20 in) upwards, but any dimension can be painted, so a piece can be made to the moulding you keep in stock rather than the other way round. Tell us the finished stretched size and we paint with a margin for wrapping the edges; tell us the visible size only and we will ask.
If a rolled piece arrives damaged, photograph the tube and the canvas before anything is discarded and send us the pictures. We handle the carrier claim and replace the piece at no cost. Every shipment is insured, so a claim is our problem rather than yours.

What is the minimum for a gallery order, and can we re-order a piece after it sells?
What goes wrong elsewhere. Wholesalers set a minimum an independent shop cannot reach without tying up cash on the wall; consignment artists want their work back, do not paint on demand, and cannot replace a sold piece by a date. Either way the wall has gaps you did not choose.
What we do. The minimum is one piece, and that first piece is the sample: order it, frame it, put it on the wall and see how it sells before you commit further. An opening order of a few pieces is quoted the same way as a sample, within one business day. From ten pieces in a single order the volume tiers apply, and the tiers are quoted with the enquiry rather than published. Payment is against a proforma invoice; terms are available on repeat accounts.
Re-supply after a sale is the normal case for us, because nothing we supply is a one-off in the sense of "cannot be made again". When a piece sells you have two honest options:
- Re-paint it as a new original. The same reference, the same size or a new one, painted again by hand, signed, and certified as the new piece it is. You may tell the customer it is a new original of the same composition.
- Order a variation. Our Vary route builds a related piece off the same composition, so the second painting on your wall is visibly its own work and the first buyer's piece stays distinct.
Repeat orders run on the same timetable as the first: about a week to paint and three to seven days in transit, ten to thirteen days door to door, with the date confirmed in writing when we quote.
What is the difference between catalogue works and master works?
Galleries sell both, and the two must not be blurred on a label. The table is the distinction we use ourselves.
| Catalogue works | Master works | |
|---|---|---|
| Who paints it | Studio painters trained inside the hub's exhibition programme | Senior partnered artists of Siji Art Hub |
| Changes | Any size, any palette, variations on request | None; kept exactly as painted |
| Paperwork | Signature and certificate of authenticity | Certificate plus provenance, exhibition history, a photograph of the artist with the work, and invitations to their shows |
| Re-supply after a sale | Re-painted as a new original, or varied | Not re-painted; each is the only one |
| Timing | About a week to paint, then transit | Confirmed per piece; may ship separately from a catalogue order |
For a framing shop the catalogue is the working stock: 1,455 references across eight styles and ten themes, painted to your sizes and sold with a certificate. Master works are the pieces you show to the customer who asks for a record behind the painting, and they are described on the custom and commission page. Ask for them in the enquiry; they are quoted individually and shipped with their own documents.
What we do not claim, for either kind: a fire rating, a museum registration, an international exhibition record, or a price. The hub's exhibition programme to date has been domestic, and we describe Siji Art Hub as an art hub and complex, not a registered museum.
How an order runs for a gallery or framing shop
- Brief. Send catalogue reference codes, the finished sizes, the finish (rolled for most galleries) and any palette change. A photograph of the wall you are filling is useful but not required.
- Quote. Within one business day, per piece and per tier where the order reaches ten, with a lead time and a delivery date you can plan the wall around. The date is confirmed in writing.
- Payment. Against a proforma invoice. Terms are available on repeat accounts.
- Painting, with approval. About a week. We send photographs or video as each piece progresses and continue only once you have approved the stage. For a first order this is also your quality check: nothing ships that you have not seen.
- Signature and certificate. The painter signs the canvas and writes the certificate of authenticity that travels with it.
- Shipping. Free and insured worldwide by DHL, FedEx or USPS, rolled in a paper tube or boxed if stretched or framed, with a tracking number the day it leaves. Three to seven days in transit; ten to thirteen days from order to delivery for a standard piece.
- Re-order. When a piece sells, send the code again with the new size if it changed. The new piece is painted, signed and certified as a new original, on the same timetable.
Multiple pieces in one order usually travel together. Master works run to their own timeline and may arrive separately; we confirm dates per piece. If you need the canvases to reach a framer or a second shop rather than your own address, tell us at order stage: third-party delivery is arranged on request.
What to send us for a quote
A complete first email saves the round of questions. For a gallery or framing shop the quote needs:
- Reference codes from the catalogue, such as AA#1131 or HA#1101, one per line with the quantity against each.
- Finished size per piece in centimetres or inches, and whether that is the stretched size or the visible size inside a frame. Any size can be painted; the catalogue sizes are a starting point.
- Finish: rolled (unstretched canvas in a tube), frameless stretched, or framed in gold, silver, black, white or wood.
- Palette changes, if any: a fabric, paint or stone reference, or simply "the same composition in blues".
- Whether you want variations rather than repeats, where you are ordering more than one of a reference for the same wall.
- Deadline, if you are filling a wall for an opening or a season, so the date we commit to in writing is the one you need.
- Delivery address, including a framer's or a second shop's address if the canvases should go there instead.
You do not need a designer, a mood board or a minimum spend. A framing shop can send a single code and a size and receive a quote for one rolled canvas the next business day. If you would rather start from the wall than the catalogue, send a photograph of it with the dimensions and the kind of customer you sell to, and we will propose tagged catalogue works to choose from.
Which parts of the catalogue fit a gallery or framing-shop wall?
Three hundred and twenty-seven works carry the Gallery & Retail room tag, and the profile of that group is different from the rest of the catalogue: it skews Bold (196) and Dramatic (166) rather than calming, and it holds the highest share of Figurative & Human work of any room (57). Abstract leads the styles at 106, followed by Colorful (72), Textured & Plaster (52) and Impressionist (36). Two hundred and fifty-five of the 327 are vertical and 46 are square, which suits a wall hung in a grid and frames cut from stock lengths.
The cuts below are the groups galleries and framers order from most, with live counts that update as the catalogue changes. Each links to the nearest browse page. Two honest limits: Hyperrealism tagged for Gallery & Retail is a small group (20 works), and realistic figure painting is smaller still (three works), so a shop that sells mainly portraits should ask about a commission rather than expect a range. Animal & Wildlife realism is deeper, at 42 works across the catalogue.
Every work in every cut can be painted at any size and in another palette. If your customers buy small, order the same references at 61 × 51 cm (24 × 20 in); if a designer client needs the same composition over a sofa, order it again at 122 × 91 cm (48 × 36 in) and it is painted fresh at that size.

Also for importers, distributors and sourcing agents
Importers, distributors and trading companies supplying decor retailers in one country ask a different first question: not "is it an original?" but "can I re-order it as a SKU?". The answer is yes in the sense that matters: any catalogue reference re-paints to the same size on every order, so a fixed range of codes in fixed sizes behaves like a repeatable line, and each piece is still an original with its own signature and certificate. Where your retailers want each piece to differ, the Vary route gives you a family instead of a repeat. Volume tiers apply from ten pieces per order and are quoted within one business day; payment is against a proforma, with terms on repeat accounts. Standard shipping is free, insured, worldwide by DHL, FedEx or USPS, with a tracking number on dispatch. Sea freight and territory exclusivity are not part of the published offer, so raise them in the enquiry rather than assume them either way.
Sourcing agents and buying offices in China acting for an overseas retailer, hotel group or studio can treat the studio as a local supplier: iHomeArt is the trade channel of Siji Art Hub in Foshan, Guangdong, and samples are available at the one-piece minimum. Progress photographs or video are sent at each stage and continue only once approved, which gives you evidence to forward to the principal. Shipment can go directly to the principal's address abroad or to a consolidator; tell us at order stage. Quotes, tiers and paperwork run exactly as for any other trade order.
A framing shop's opening order of eight rolled canvases — illustrative

| Main wall grid, three pieces | Colorful and Textured & Plaster: bouquet with paint drips; white blooms and gold leaves on charcoal; amber and steel-blue knife strokes | 61 × 51 cm (24 × 20 in) each, rolled | CA#079, TA#097, AA#1050 |

Questions galleries & framing shops buying wholesale ask us
- Are these originals or reproductions?
- Originals. Each piece is hand-painted on canvas for the order that asks for it, signed by the painter and shipped with a certificate of authenticity in the painter's hand. Nothing is printed and nothing is held in stock; an order against a catalogue reference is a new painting.
- Who paints the work, and can we tell customers?
- Studio painters at Siji Art Hub in Foshan, who work inside the hub's exhibition programme of more than fifty shows. Tell customers exactly that: a hand-painted original, signed and certified by its painter. Do not attach a name or reputation the certificate does not carry; for attributed pieces ask about master works.
- Can you ship rolled so we frame in-house?
- Yes. Rolled is a standard finish: the unstretched canvas ships in a strong paper tube, insured, with a tracking number. You stretch and frame locally and keep the framing margin. Stretched and framed finishes in gold, silver, black, white or wood are also available.
- What is the minimum for a gallery order?
- One piece, which most galleries use as the sample. Small opening orders are quoted within one business day; from ten pieces in a single order the volume tiers apply. Payment is against a proforma invoice, with terms available on repeat accounts.
- Can we re-order a piece after it sells?
- Yes. Send the reference code and size again and it is painted by hand as a new original, signed and certified as the new piece it is, in about a week plus three to seven days in transit. If you want the second piece visibly different, ask for a variation instead.
- What is the difference between catalogue works and master works?
- Catalogue works are painted to order by studio painters, in any size or palette, with a signature and certificate. Master works by the hub's senior partnered artists are kept exactly as painted and carry provenance, exhibition history, a photograph with the artist and show invitations. They are quoted and shipped individually.
- Can we order a size that is not in the catalogue?
- Yes. The listed sizes are the ones each work has been painted at before, not a fixed menu. Give the finished stretched size or the visible size inside the frame, and the piece is painted to it with a margin for wrapping the edges where needed.
- What if a rolled canvas arrives damaged?
- Photograph the tube and the canvas before discarding anything and send us the pictures. Every shipment is insured; we handle the carrier claim and replace the piece at no cost. Keep the damaged piece and its packaging until the claim closes.
